LAND ACKNOWLEDGEMENT

DU is a 501c3 organization founded in Salt Lake City, Utah. Utah, the ancestral home to four Indigenous Native American Tribes: Goshute, Paiute, Shoshone, and Ute, is a gathering place for Indigenous peoples. DU stands in solidarity with Indigenous Native Peoples everywhere in acknowledging them as the rightful stewards of this land. We are humbled to gather in this territory to offer resiliency resources for youth in states custody, and respect and value the 60,000 American Indian and Alaskan Native peoples calling Utah their home.

SOLIDARITY STATEMENT

DU acknowledges and stands in solidarity with Black and Pan African American families whose loved ones are/were victims of: racism, discrimination, inequity in higher education, racial profiling, all levels of police overreach and brutality, racial inequality, the hyper-criminalization and sexualization of Black children, and hate in all of its forms. We empathize with those experiencing these crises on a  collective and individual level. We recognize that no one should have to shoulder such burdens, least of all alone. Congruent with our mission, DU remains open to discourse regarding any opinion, including to help facilitate dialogue. We account that we do not have all of the answers, but our ambition is to demonstrate through consistency, a commitment to engaging peacefully, proactively, and productively with all.
